Expanded Polystyrene for Water Underfloor Heating Systems and Wall Heating Systems

QUICK MONTAGE

with our system you will shorten the installation time by 20%

ALHAR FLOOR

Alhar Floor is a solution dedicated to water underfloor heating systems. It replaces traditional floor insulation made of styrofoam along with clips and foil. It facilitates and accelerates the installation of heating systems, while reducing costs by up to 25% due to a decrease in screed consumption and the elimination of clips and foil.

The expanded polystyrene board provides excellent thermal insulation for floors. Its declared thermal conductivity (λ) of 0.033 W/m² significantly surpasses the thermal conductivity coefficient of standard styrofoam, which is typically between 0.036-0.038 W/m².

APPLICATION

The installation of the Alhar Floor expanded polystyrene boards is recommended for water underfloor heating/wall heating systems. These boards offer high thermal insulation and resistance to mechanical damage, making them an excellent alternative to the traditional method of installing underfloor heating using flat styrofoam, foil, and clips. The system ensures a stable position for heating cables and significantly speeds up their installation process.

BENEFITS OF USING

THE ALHAR FLOOR SYSTEM

The interlocking mechanism securely connects the boards, creating a solid surface without thermal and acoustic bridges.
The compact surface of the polystyrene eliminates the risk of screed seepage underneath.
Excellent insulation - outstanding thermal conductivity coefficient: λ=0.033 W/m².
The placement of heating pipes below the protrusions ensures that walking over the cables during installation or screed pouring will not cause displacement or damage.
The grid pattern on the underside of the board facilitates cutting necessary sections.
The mushroom-shaped protrusions effectively stabilize the pipes without the need for clips. The pipes will not float during screed pouring, and their shape ensures complete concrete encapsulation.

INSTALLATION STAGES

STEP BY STEP

STEP 1
Laying on the screed

Place the Alhar Floor boards directly on the screed, interlocking them with tabs. If necessary, cut smaller sections using the grid pattern on the underside of the board as a guide.

STEP 2
Laying the heating cables

Lay the heating cables between the protrusions, pressing them firmly so that they are positioned below the surface. There is no need for clips - the concave shape of the protrusions effectively holds the pipes in place. The evenly distributed mushroom-shaped protrusions eliminate the need for spacers to achieve even spacing of the pipes.

STEP 3
Performing a test

After laying and connecting the heating system, perform a test to check its operation under higher than working pressure.

STEP 4
Screeding

If no leaks are detected, proceed with screeding.

WALL HEATING

STABLE PLACEMENT OF HEATING CABLES

Another planar heating system where the Alhar Floor System can be used is wall heating. This increasingly popular solution in recent years is chosen for its advantages, including:

  • higher efficiency
  • easier temperature regulation in the room
  • better distribution of temperature in the room
  • no dust circulation
  • no drying out of wooden floors
  • absence of radiators and other visible heating system elements
  • improved cooling efficiency during the summer season

The Alhar Floor System performs exceptionally well in wall heating applications. The heating cables are stably positioned between the protrusions, even in a vertical orientation, regardless of whether the installation is embedded in plaster or concealed behind gypsum plasterboards. Moreover, with a thermal conductivity coefficient of 0.033 W/m² it effectively insulates against heat loss through the walls.

Similarly to underfloor heating, the installation process for wall heating is quick and straightforward. The boards are mounted to the wall using mounting dowels and adhesive.

Once the boards are securely attached to the wall, you can proceed with laying the heating cables.
